Zwischenwelt - the mysterious world in between

On Myspace there appeared in April 2007 a project called "Zwischenwelt". As members are listed Kommando 6-head Beta Evers, Heinrich Mueller (Dopplereffekt etc), Penelope Martin and Susana Correia. Having a closer look on the profile, this project obviously turns around the field of Parapsychology; it appears like a musical and scientific approach to specific twilight zones in science.

At the moment they present 4 tracks called Agujero Negro, Segunda Realidad, Nina Kulagina and Materialization, which have all a mystic and deep atmosphere and respective sounds. Most of them are produced in teamwork (according to the given infos in the Myspace player). In the photo section you can see animations and some pictures of the female members, for example doing psychokinetic experiments. Refering to well-informed sources, the Zwischenwelt project will not only be presented by music, but with a multimedia idea. We wait curiously for things to come...

Greg Gravity - Digitalized and Pixelated

Tobias Grewenig is a video- and multimedia artist from Augsburg (Bavaria), now living and working in Cologne. In 2002 he graduated at the academy of media arts Cologne (emphasis experimental graphics, audio and interface). Lately he gets invited to present his interactive installations at various electronic art festivals all over Europe. Into electronic music since ever, he started out as DJ "Greg Gravity" in 1991. Through the following years he appeared at many underground parties. With his special music selection and mix-style he was a kind of guarantee for a good party. Besides playing across clubs in his hometown, he did a monthly radioshow with friends at radio-free-fm (Ulm) from 1998-2000 and he played at the old and new Ultraschall Club and the LOK (Munich). Finally he was one of the resident DJs at the legendary Elektrik Nacht party-series at Blauer Salon Augsburg, where after all the Kommando 6 label was born in 2000.

In 2002 he moved to Cologne and got more and more involved in his visual projects at the artschool. He produced 2 tracks for Kommando 6 records (on V.A. Dark Connections and on V.A. Electric Nights), but for the rest he was occupied with developing interactive installations. One of his first big projects is called "Bit Mirror". "Bit Mirror" uses ASCII to graphically represent facial expressions and physical interactions between people.

The installation animates the visitors' movements in abstract form and reproduces them in a sound synthesis. A webcam and microphones register movement and sound in the space. A special ImageToASCII generator subsequently renders these data in ASCII form. According to algorithms derived from the laws of nature (gravity, wave motions), the graphic representation on the projection screen is animated into flowing images constructed from letters, digits and punctuation marks. The installation forms a graphic and acoustic shadow world in which abstract particles and signs swarm over the screen.

Right now Tobias Grewenig is working on 4 various new projects. One of it is the "Emotion's Defibrillator" (picture above), a physiologically working media machine, which can be expanded by a human being ("anything that can be done chemically can be done in other ways" William Burroughs). The premiere of this project just took place at the Electronic Arts Festival LAB 30 in Augsburg.
